Gain the World to Lose Your Soul
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26
Truly walking with the Lord takes time, dedication, discipline, and care. When the Lord calls us to Himself, He is not calling us to a dry and arid, hapless and boring walk. When someone chooses to take up their cross and follow Christ it is a decision that lasts a lifetime.
God's Word says that the broad road leads to destruction (hell), and it is the narrow roadwhich leads to eternal life. It is true that the heart believes in Christ unto righteousness, andwith the mouth confession is made (unto) salvation. However, the narrow road requires great dedication and fortitude, patience and time. It's no wonder the Word of God equates the Christian life to a race (see Hebrews 12:1).
It is so very easy to get caught up in the world around us, with all the distractions out there to get us off the narrow path which leads to life. Even if someone were to 'gain'the whole world itself, but lose their very soul, how tragic that would be!
God doesn't always promise that life is easy. Take a look at Christ's life...and He is our example. Even so, God's grace is always sufficient for us in our weakness, for Jesus says that His 'strength is made perfect in weakness.'
In Him, Noah
